March 26, 2024 – DJI Global, a world leader in civilian drone manufacturing and creative photography technology, today announced the global launch of DJI Dock 2. Featuring the uniquely designed DJI Matrice 3D/3TD drone, this “drone in a box” solution is lightweight, inexpensive, and easy to install and deploy. Compatible with DJI FlightHub 2, it enables automated air mission management and monitoring through cloud-based operations. As an end-to-end enterprise solution, DJI Dock 2 simplifies the day-to-day operations of detection, inspection, asset management and security.

Conduct autonomous missions with ease using Dock 2

Dock 2, compared with the previous generation, is significantly smaller and lighter, offering superior operational capabilities and intelligent cloud-based functions. For example, using DJI FlightHub 2, high-precision 3D models can be created based on collected flight data, allowing drones to automatically program the camera angle to capture the same area in subsequent flights. These automated features improve the safety and efficiency of detection activities.

Lightweight and easy to implement
DJI Dock 2 weighs only 34 kg and measures 570 mm x 583 mm x 465 mm. It is 75% smaller and 68% lighter than the previous generation, making installation easier and cheaper. Site assessment prior to drone launch is done by vision sensors, ensuring a flight path and destination with optimal GNSS signals. This greatly reduces the site selection time to less than 12 minutes, compared to the previous 5 hours.

Reliable in extreme weather conditions

DJI Dock 2 can operate stably even in harsh climates and environments, being rated IP55 for dust and water resistance. It uses rain, wind speed and temperature indicators to detect weather changes in real time. In addition, with DJI FlightHub 2 and online weather forecasts, timely alerts can be sent and flight activities can be terminated as needed.

Stable and cost-effective remote operations

DJI Dock 2 can be programmed to complete missions autonomously, but operators can control the angle of the stabilizer from anywhere at any time. Internal and external fisheye lenses provide real-time condition information, enabling operators to monitor weather conditions and the surrounding environment.

Minimal support, even during emergencies

DJI Dock 2 requires maintenance only every six months. In the event of a power failure, it can operate autonomously thanks to its built-in battery for 5 hours, allowing the drone to return and land. DJI FlightHub 2 sends notifications immediately via e-mail if flight activity fails, allowing operators to troubleshoot problems accurately.

High-precision aerial missions with the new DJI 3D/3TD Matrix
The new DJI 3D/3TD Matrix drone is designed to meet the high-level operational requirements of DJI Dock 2. Both drones have built-in RTK antennas, omnidirectional obstacle detection and automatic obstacle bypass, improving the success of autonomous flight activities. They feature a maximum flight time of 50 minutes, an operating range of 10 km, and an IP54 wind and dust rating, with the ability to recharge for 400 cycles.

Integrated open ecosystem with extensive functionality

DJI supports an open ecosystem, allowing operators to use both DJI and third-party software and payloads. For example, DJI Dock 2 is compatible with DJI TerraAPI for 2D/3D model reconstruction or DJI FlightHub 2 for cloud-based operations. DJI 3D/3DT Matrix can use third-party payloads such as speakers, reflectors or parachutes via the E-Port and E-Port Lite (purchased separately).
